HGP – Shipt strikes deal with Piggly Wiggly
One of Birmingham’s fastest growing companies has struck another key partnership.
Shipt and Piggy Wiggly have joined forces in a new partnership that will give 152,000 households the option to have app-based Shipt deliver groceries from Piggly Wiggly locations in the Birmingham area to their doorsteps.
“This new partnership allows our customers access to Piggly Wiggly groceries delivered straight to their door,” said Naseem Aljouny of Piggly Wiggly. “By working with Shipt, we are able to offer the same quality with increased convenience to our loyal customers. The Shipt online marketplace allows the same focus on self-service that has been at our core for the past 100 years, with a new innovative service.”
A full selection of groceries from Piggly Wiggly will be on the app so residents can use a local company to shop local.
“As Shipt’s founding city, Birmingham and its residents formed the roots of our success,” said Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt. “Through our new partnership with Piggly Wiggly, we’re aiming to provide our friends and neighbors with additional options for grocery delivery, including access to a local favorite.”
The partnership is another big win for Shipt, which recently raised $40 million to fuel its growth. It also comes on the heels of Shipt competitor Instacart rolling out its plans to enter Birmingham and striking a deal with Publix.
