HVP – Baltimore just got a massive donation of overdose-reversing naloxone

Virginia pharmaceutical company Kaleo has donated 6,500 naloxone kits to Baltimore, more than twice the amount of the overdose-reversing drug the city is typically able to purchase in a year.
The donation will go a long way toward city officials’ goals stop heroin and opioid overdose deaths by getting naloxone into the hands, homes and first-aid kits of more city residents. Naloxone is a central piece of the city’s approach to addressing overdose deaths, but the rising price of drug is prohibitive and has limited the number of kits the city is able to hand out to police officers, first responders and residents.
