Harbert Pioneer is a fundamental long / short strategy based in New York. Pioneer seeks to capitalize on the investment opportunity created by innovation, expressed across a variety of industries, factors, and styles in a balanced portfolio designed to reduce risk, volatility, and turnover.
The Pioneer team’s differentiated perspective, derived from Portfolio Manager Edward Shaheen’s background across diverse disciplines, has led them to reimagine traditional investment strategies and arrive at Pioneer’s fresh approach. Pioneer’s process is strategically positioned to capitalize on innovation occurring across a variety of industries. Longs include both established companies undergoing business model transitions and those disrupting the status quo. Shorts are characterized by companies at risk of disruption that are either unable or unwilling to pivot. Pioneer’s long / short strategy presents a perennially attractive opportunity to capitalize on these currents of industrial change in a balanced and thoughtful way that is appropriate for constantly evolving market conditions.
